The agriculture industry today is much different than it was 20 or 30 years ago. Unfortunately, agriculture is still visualized as only farming or ranching, or linked to only production agriculture. Historically, the agriculture industry has faced obstacles in recruiting and retaining candidates, and this obstacle has resulted in many agricultural-related companies struggling to find highly trained agriculture, food and life sciences scientists and professionals from under-represented ethnic groups.
To fill this void, the AgForLife Student Association at Texas A&M University was born. Opportunities for student enrichment include:
- Dale Carnegie Leadership Training Workshop - sponsored by Hispanic Alliance for Career Enhancement
- Community Service
- Help needy families enjoy a better Thanksgiving
- Rock Around the Christmas Tree with a needy family
- Leadership skill development
- Networking with professionals from the agriculture, food and life sciences industry
- Receive "early bird" info about employment, scholarship and internship opportunities
- Professional Development opportunities
- Posting of your resume for potential employers to view
We encourage you to explore our website to learn more about the multitude of opportunities that await you as a member of the AgForLife Student Association.
We hope to see you at the next general meeting. Check out our Calendar for meeting dates, times and locations. |
